Coles County Regional Planning & Development Commission

Coles County Regional Planning and Development Commission has for a number of years now been working to implement a number of State and Federal Housing Rehabilitation Grants. Over the years, our agency has administered a number of Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) CDAP Housing Grants, Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) HOME Single Family Rehabilitation Grants, Land Bank Programs, Abandoned Property Grants and IHDA Affordable Housing Trust Fund Grants to assist low to very low-income homeowners in rehabilitating their homes. Through these programs, we have assisted a number of homeowners in the communities of Charleston, Mattoon, Paris, Oakland, Ashmore, Greenup, Martinsville, Toledo, Casey, Neoga, Sullivan and in Coles, Cumberland and Clark Counties.

Funds from these programs are used to rehabilitate deteriorating homes for low-income homeowners that meet federal income limits based upon family size. General housing repairs including roof replacement, window replacement, installation of energy efficient doors and windows, replacement furnaces, handicapped accommodations including ramps and bathrooms, electrical rewiring, insulation, lead hazard mitigation, etc.

Currently CCRP&DC has programs in progress in 6 counties within our 7 county region the communities of Kansas, Mattoon, Neoga, and Sullivan. Individuals that are interested in participating in these programs or would like more information should contact Coles County Regional Planning at 348-0521.
