Building Maintenance & Custodian

SUMMARY OF POSITION

Performs dally maintenance and custodial operations in County Courthouse and other County buildings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES (EXAMPLES OF WORK)

  • Check all HVAC in Jail, Courthouse, and other assigned buildings for routine and preventative maintenance including changing filters periodically.
  • Clean offices and public areas including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and disposing of trash.
  • Perform woodworking and light building maintenance at County facilities.
  • Move furniture, equipment, and fixtures as required.
  • Change light bulbs and ballast.
  • Maintain door locks at County buildings.
  • Perform light carpentry duties.
  • Perform plumbing and electrical repairs.
  • Perform work in small or tight spaces.
  • Perform work independently.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must be able to safely move 60 lbs.
Must be able to safely operate custodial power equipment.
Must be able to communicate effectively orally, including giving and receiving instructions.
Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and the general public.
Must pass medical and criminal background check furnished by the department.
Must be able to read, understand and perform mathematical calculations to safely operate equipment and use cleaning chemicals.
Must be knowledgeable of safe techniques to properly use hand tools, power tools and other specialized equipment.
Must be punctual and dependable for work shifts assigned.

Certified Law Enforcement Offices/Deputies & Certified Correctional Officers

The Coles County Sheriff Office is accepting application for Certified Law Enforcement Offices/Deputies and Certified Correctional Officers. Starting salary for Certified Law Enforcement is $44,891 and starting salary for Certified Correctional Officer is $40,167. To be certified an applicant must require no additional mandatory training before taking the appointment. Interested candidates can completed an application and provide copies of certification for review. WIC/FCM RN

Coles County Health Department has an immediate opening for a full time RN in WIC/FCM Program. 8:30am-4:30pm M-F. No weekends, midnights, or scheduled on-call.

Telecommunications Position

The Coles County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for Telecommunication position. This position is a union position and works inside the Jail on a 8 hour shift rotation. The starting salary for this position is $23,339. Ideal applicant must possess the ability to multitask, use radio, ability to use computers to include data entry, and light filing. Retirement is through IMRF with different health insurance options. 80 hours of vacation after one (1) year of service, three (3) personal days, and 8 hours of accrued sick leave per month.
