Local Services

Housing Rehabilitation: At the request of local communities, specific grants are written/administered for targeted housing rehabilitation of very low income households.

Map Drafting of municipalities, townships and parts thereof including zoning, infrastructure and other special applications such as Enterprise Zones.

Historic Preservation: The Commission's file of the Coles County Register of Significant Places & the National Register of Historic Places offers the public a wealth of historical information regarding Coles County. Applications for listing on historical register for a historic site are compiled by our staff.

Geographic Information Systems to include computer mapping and special computer projects.

Solid Waste Services: The Commission serves as the entity which coordinates the implementation of a six-county solid waste plan.

Landfill Siting including grant management/reporting, preparation of accounting reports and special projects.

Student Internships provide an opportunity for university and high school students to serve as interns at the Commission.

Community and Regional Projects

Grant Applications for infrastructure, public facilities, recreation and parks, housing rehabilitation, economic development projects, and solid waste / recycling.

Grant Management for any type of awarded project, maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal guidelines and requirements.

Comprehensive Plans or Community Builder Plans incorporate assessments of and planning for land use, housing, transportation, public facilities, parks and open space.

Subdivision Plat Review to ensure compliance with local ordinances.

ADA Assistance to assist communities in preparation of a generalized ADA Transition Plan to comply with the requirements of the 1990 American Disabilities Act.

Annexation Studies to decide feasibility of incorporating properties within municipalities.

Development Services - codification, ordinance development and interpretation, comprehensive planning, park and recreation planning, zoning, subdivision, floodplain management, and other environmental areas.

Financial Services include grant management/reporting, preparation of accounting reports and special projects.

Programs and Services

Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Program provides financing for business startups or expansions that create or retain jobs.

Business & Industry Data Center (BIDC) affiliate of the Illinois Department of Commerce and Community Affairs to provide census data to small businesses, self-employed and future businesses that can readily be used to market, manage and expand their businesses.

Word Processing and Large Document Scanning includes OCR (Optical Character Recognition) text scanning for Municipal Codes, Ordinances, and other large documents.

Intergovernmental Forums includes meetings of governmental officials for coordination of projects and services, and state and federal legislative forums.

Surveys of community needs and demographic characteristics including labor studies and salary/wage systems, surveys, survey development, distribution, compilation, tabulation and analysis.

Personalized Projects at the request of the community. Commission staff is available to assist with special projects.
