The 1st Real Estate Tax installment is due June 26, 2009. The 2nd installment is due September 4, 2009. Taxes may be paid at the Office of the Coles County Collector/Treasurer at the Coles County Courthouse. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To enter the Courthouse, please use the South (Jackson Street) entrance. Handicapped access is also available at the south entrance. Enter the ground floor through the sliding door and proceed to the elevator on your right. Taxes may also be paid at these authorized locations: First Mid-Illinois Band & Trust (all branches) Edgar County Bank and Trust, Ashmore Citizens National Bank, Charleston and Oakland Prairie State Bank & Trust, Charleston, Mattoon, and Oakland US Bank, Mattoon Bank of Advance-Lerna Banking Center First Neighbor Bank, Charleston First Financial Bank, Charleston First National Bank, Mattoon First Federal Savings & Loan, Mattoon Real Estate Tax payments can also be made by credit card using the Internet or telephone. You may use Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. There is a convenience fee charged for this service, collected by the credit card company. The Treasurer's Office can accept payments with MasterCard and Discover card in our office at the Coles County Courthouse. Box 346 Charleston, IL 61920 For your convenience, a payment drop box is located at the south entrance to the Coles County Courthouse. A second drop box is located at Mattoon City Hall. To avoid a 1.5% penalty, your payment must be postmarked by the due dates listed above.
