Taxes may be paid at the Office of the Coles County Collector/Treasurer at the Coles County Courthouse. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. To enter the Courthouse, please use the South (Jackson Street) entrance. Handicapped access is also available at the south entrance. Enter the ground floor through the sliding door and proceed to the elevator on your right.

Taxes may also be paid at these authorized locations:

Real Estate Tax payments can also be made by credit card using the Internet or telephone. You may use Visa, MasterCard, Discover, or American Express. There is a convenience fee charged for this service, collected by the credit card company.

• New this year!! The Treasurer's Office can accept payments with MasterCard and Discover card in our office at the Coles County Courthouse. A convenience fee for this service will be charged by the credit card company.

For your convenience, a payment drop box is located at the south entrance to the Coles County Courthouse. A second drop box is located at Mattoon City Hall. To avoid a 1.5% penalty, your payment must be postmarked by the due dates listed above.
