We are a division of the Planning and Development Committee of the Coles County Board. GIS, a computer system capable of holding and using data describing places on the earth’s surface, is a resource for mapping or performing land based analysis. One of the advantages GIS provides is the ability to assist in the decision making process by providing an additional tool to analyze and compare numerous geographic data layers along with traditional databases.
Questions GIS can answer include:

CCGC is Coles County's Internet Map Viewer. With this tool, you can access the County's GIS data interactively and quickly over the World Wide Web. By selecting the layer of information that you want to see, you can find a wealth of data linked to maps on your Internet browser. Since CCGC is a new and evolving product, please visit this site often. We are always updating and adding new data sets.
