Sue Rennels, Coles County Clerk & RecorderColes County Clerk Sue Rennels was elected in November, 2006 and assumed her duties as Clerk on Dec. 1, 2006.

Prior to her election, Sue served as Legislative Aide to State Rep. Chapin Rose and to State Sen. Judy Myers, worked part time as Deputy Clerk in the Coles County Clerk's Office, and worked in the Business Office/Accounts Payable and Textbook Rental at Eastern Illinois University. She also is a former small business owner and is a member of the Ashmore Baptist Church.

The daughter of Don and Mamie Richey, Sue and her husband Tom Rennels have been married 36 years. They have two children, Jill Bowers (husband Darin) and Chris Rennels (wife Cassie), and four grandchildren, Zoe and Jade Bowers, and Zack and Zane Rennels.

My staff and I take seriously the responsibility of keeping the records of this office. These are your records, whether it is your birth certificate, the deed to your home, or your marriage license. These records are important to you, and it is important to us to see that they are maintained and protected for your future use.

Another important function of this office is Elections and Voter Registration. We work hard to maintain the registration rolls to insure a voter's eligibility to cast a ballot on Election Day and to secure the tabulation process to guarantee that your vote is properly counted.
